Since my campaigning began (advertising in newspapers and talking on the radio), I've had numerous messages left on my answering machine, both positive and negative. They did it anonymously, but I really wish the negative people had left their phone numbers so that they could properly educate me about what concerned them. For instance, one lady rang thinking I was a Labor or greeny man since I criticised John Howard, speaking most passionately about what she thought was wrong; and other people rang up, swearing and cursing, and left insults, etc.
These people are the most hurt in our society, they take it out on another hurt person like myself, and that's why I want to include these people on my committees to try and fix up some of our problems.
